Is anyone else feeling inspired by the recent warm weather? We’ve had some lovely sunshine recently and now is the perfect time to start switching your décor to spring/summer mode. You don’t need to spend tons of money to bring summer inside. It’s all about getting organised and changing your colour scheme to softer or brighter colours.
I always start the transition to spring/summer mode with a good declutter. I usually start by sorting out my wardrobe. I usually end up donating most of my old clothes to charity shops and it’s amazing how much more room you have left with afterwards. I always give my wardrobe shelves a good dusting too. And make sure that your closet is smelling good. I love using little scented sachets for instant freshness.
Spring is the ideal time to introduce new accent colours to your décor. Pastels are very big this season. Choose anything from pale pink to light yellow to give your house a summery look. If you’re not quite brave enough to paint your walls in pastel colours, start with the smaller accessories first. Cushions covers, throws and small decorative accessories are a great way to brighten up your home.
Use natural materials like rattan or sisal indoors to give your house that summer feels. Rattan chairs and baskets are the perfect addition if you’re going for a coastal look. Natural rugs made of sisal or jute are very popular too. They are easy to care for and add a touch of style to your spring or summer interior.
Bringing the outside in will make your house feel immediately more summery. If you’re not blessed with a green thumb like me, stick with cacti plants. If you want to make a statement, go for a big rubber plant and place it in a summery rattan pot to add a bit of coastal chic to your décor.
Most of us can’t afford to redecorate our living spaces each season which means sometimes you just need to get a bit creative. Wall murals are a really inexpensive way to spruce up your home. They are really not that difficult to install, although it’s worth watching a few youtube tutorials first. Botanical wall murals will bring spring and summer to your home and they are perfect to keep on your walls all year around.
