Welcome to the new year. We have to say we are very excited about this new year and what it has in store for us! 2018 was a great year for design and interiors. We left behind a lot of old trends and ushered in plenty of new ones. Designers preferred sensible and earthy tones and textures over the synthetic ones and overall the drift was towards sustainable designs.
While we move to 2019, a lot of this seems to be reflecting in what’s in store for us. With Pantone announcing the colour of the year as Living Coral as a mark of the warmth and nourishment mankind deserves. The colour is indicative of relaxation, liveliness and a sense of calm.
Here are a few more trends we believe are going to stay and thrive in 2019 and we have to tell you, we love them all!
Bold prints that make a statement? Yes, please! We love that florals are back but we also love how they are not restricted to granny prints anymore. Bold, beautiful and exuberant flowers in large sizes will be seen adorning walls and textiles alike. Unlike the carefully placed dainty flowers from back in the day, we are talking about a lush explosion of these floral beauties!
The millennial generation was a rather revolutionary one what with all the rule breaking and stereotype-smashing. In an ode to a generation that fought for women’s equality, fought gender stereotypes and introduced us to terms like metrosexual, we present the millennial pink. Believe us when we say this colour is here to stay and for a while! It is impactful, nourishing, heartwarming and absolutely soothing!
Last year we experimented with metallic accents but largely focussed on gold only to soon realise that gold is not for everyone. This year, we have drifted to the subtle cousin of the precious metal — Copper. Copper as a tone has a way of being luxurious and elegant at the same time. Copper accents against dark surfaces are a look we simply cannot get over!
Bold colours made a debut in 2018 and we have got to admit that this trend is a hit. Many designers swear by this trick to amplify the look of any room to take it notches higher. The colour overload is a style statement today and dark hues of teal, plum, green and mustard are going to reign supreme in 2019.
We simply love how refreshing Pantone’s colour of the year is. While 2019 looks like a year of bold trends, this colour has a place in all homes either in humble ways as cushions or as sofas or wall colours. However, the motive behind the hue is to cut out the chaos and the crowded feel of designs these days and to render it a soft and nourishing feel.
