The Ultimate DIY Christmas Blog

Christmas is the time to give thanks to our family and friends. This is a period where many people will silently start asking questions:

  • What should I buy as a Christmas present?
  • It is too expensive to buy so many gifts. What should I do?
  • Where can I get nice and affordable Christmas presents?
  • What kind of present is unique and out-of-the-box?
  • And the list goes on and on…

Can we ever get enough of DIY holiday gift ideas? I know I can’t! I am always looking for something clever to bring as a gift for the hostess or just for a friend! BUT… between planning dinners for the family and throwing cocktail parties for friends, making thoughtful gifts can be overwhelming. It’s actually possible to survive it (and enjoy it!) by keeping it simple. So, my DIY projects and recipes need to be EASY.

Today I will share with you some of my favourite DIY Christmas gifts, which are thoughtful, unique and personalized.

Materials Needed – Colourful Envelopes, Paper and Markers.

Instructions: –

This idea is very simple and yet unique for every individual. Gifting words of love and encouragement is, in my opinion, the best gift ever. Thoughtful, unique and personalized in every way, all you need to do is to write a thoughtful letter to your loved ones with words of encouragement, advice or heartfelt quotes and put it inside an envelope.

The title of the envelope can be –

“….when you need to know how much I love you”

“….when you are thinking of me”

“….when you are angry with me”

open when

Alternately, you can also make the DATE Envelopes

date envelopes

This basket holds 12 envelopes, each labeled with a month of the year. And each envelope contains a pre-planned, (mostly) pre-paid dates. Some of the dates can take place at home while some can be planned for the local area (basically, anything you look forward to doing with each other). All 12 dates should be different. The plan is to open the envelope together at the beginning of the month, look at the calendar and decide on a date. So right from the beginning of the month, you have a fun date on the calendar to look forward to.

Materials Needed – Bottles/Masons jar, Paper, Markers, Chocolates, Ribbons…etc

Who can resist chocolates? Everyone loves something sweet this season. If you are thinking of buying chocolates for someone and you have the extra time to DIY, this can be a good idea for you. You can buy chocolates (make sure the chocolates are nice), put into any bottles and design the bottles depending on your creativity! Note: Make sure the bottle is clean before you put your chocolates in.

Materials Needed – Candy Canes, Wrapping Waper, DIY words “Merry Christmas”

Instructions –

Don’t we all love candy canes? Everywhere you go, you will find different types, flavors and sizes of candy canes. This one is a simple DIY that you can do using candy canes. When you combine 2 candy canes together, you will be able to form a HEART-shape.

If you want something more complicated, you can combine 10 candy canes to make it look like a flower. Combine 5 heart-shaped candy canes and you will get a ‘flower’ candy cane.

You can wrap it and add in the words “Merry Christmas”. It is simple and affordable!

Hold on your reindeer…. It’s not over yet! YES. I have saved the best for the last… not so much for gifting but most definitely Christmassy and an absolute favourite of many. I have the perfect easy-to-make egg nog latte recipe for you (and you don’t even need an espresso machine). Gift it to your mom or share it with your friends, This dandy-darling is sure to come in handy this holiday season!

Prep time- 5 minutes

Cook Time- 2 minutes

Serves- 2

  • 1 cup STRONG brewed coffee
  • 3/4 cup egg nog
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • whipped cream and nutmeg, for garnish

  1. Add egg nog and milk to a pint sized mason jar, with lid. Shake and remove lid. Heat in microwave for 30 seconds. Shake again, repeat twice (for a total of one minute and 30 seconds cooking time).
  2. Brew strong coffee. Pour coffee into two mugs. Top with foamy egg nog mixture. Add whipped cream and a pinch of nutmeg if desired. ENJOY.

I make my coffee double strength when brewing for this latte. You can also make this low fat by using low fat egg nog and fat free milk. ENJOY.

Hopefully, these DIY ideas will be helpful and inspire you to create something unique and special for your family and friends. Have a JOYOUS MERRY CHRISTMAS!

      • You don’t need to apologise! I know how crazy it gets. I didn’t get around to making the envelopes but I definitely will another time. Everything just got too busy. 😀
I did, thank you! I hope you did too! 🙂
